Nanodiamond(ND) is diamond-like carbon nanoparticle. NDs have now gained huge attention due to their inexpensive large-scale synthesis based on the detonation of carbon-containing explosives, outstanding mechanical performance, chemical resistance, biocompatibility, and unique optical and electronic properties. They are also non-toxic, which makes them well suited to biomedical use. Biotechnology research has shown the prospective use of NDs for bioanalytical purposes, such as protein purification or fluorescent biolabeling.
